On April 5, 2024, UFAM welcomed the Representatives of the GLOBAL PORTAL INSTITUTE, Mr. Nicolas Picat Saridaki, President of the Institute and Ms. Lucy Xu, specialist in Innovation and Technology.

The Meeting aimed to present the Global Institute, a non-profit organization that acts as a disseminator of the study on the species of stingless bees, a bee native to this Amazon region, creating bridges between distant communities and the capitals, in order to provide knowledge and progress through the handling of beeswax produced, combining the preservation of Natural Resources with the Economic Development of the Region.

Mr. Nicolas announced the Organization of an International Meeting on the theme of Ecology combined with Economics, which will take place on April 22nd, virtually and free of charge, and which will bring together several Educational Institutions, each presenting their research and contribution to with the theme.

Still in relation to this event, the Global Portal Institute highlights the importance of combining research into native fauna and flora, relating the impact of environmental policies on the most isolated communities in the Amazon and their complex relationship with the environment, thus promoting the integration of good sustainability practices through a native pollinator, the stingless bee, and also promoting an unprecedented “silk corridor” model and an international platform that covers Latin America through Southeast Asia.

UFAM will widely publicize this project so that our participation contributes to the dissemination of our knowledge acquired in the area and, in return, recognizes other practices and adapts them, if necessary, to our technical and scientific arsenal.
